Founded in August of 2016 by Theresa Russell and her daughter, Richmond Street Angels are community advocates that assist a wide range of people within Richmond, CA, and many of the surrounding cities within Contra Costa County, Alameda County and Solano County.
We’ve been able to help those that are homeless, families that have been affected by violence, including domestic violence and homicide, missing teens and their families, human trafficking survivors, and disaster survivors. We also post Virtual Remembrances about those that have died due to violence, as well as articles that can educate about current issues. Additionally, we are allies with the LGBTQ community. We also love animals, and we frequently post about pets, including lost pets, hoping to reunite them with their families.
Young people are the future! The youth in our community are valuable, and they deserve the chance to grow up and become productive adults, not die in the streets due to violence, like so many already have! Our young people need to feel like they matter and are worthwhile. We can help find programs that are low-or-no-cost in order to keep school-age youth occupied and off the streets. If you are a high-school student, you can fulfill your Service Learning requirement for graduation by doing community volunteer work. Contact your high-school guidance counselor for more details about Service Learning.
Our residents need to be informed, and kept up-to-date on current situations going on in our community that may affect them. We try to do that as best as we can, and we also post about upcoming local events that our local community might be interested in. Also, we attend and participate in many community events, both in and outside of Richmond.
There are a number of local community organizations and groups that we’ve partnered with, including Bay Area Rescue Mission, Healing Circles of Hope-MASK, La Fuerza Club at Aspire Richmond CAL Prep Academy, BIP Ball In Peace Angels Basketball, Adamika Village-Stop Killing Our Kids Movement, King David Respect For Life, Inc. and others.
We post frequently on our Facebook and Instagram pages, and currently have over 2000 Facebook followers, and 2200 followers on Instagram. Links to Facebook and Instagram are at the bottom of this page.
A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to our success! We couldn’t do what we do without the help and support of our friends, followers and community partners! We’re currently in the process of forming our official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We always welcome new opportunities to help, so please click the “Contact Us” tab above and get in touch with us if you have an idea or suggestion!
